書生張君瑞（吳卓羲 飾）和相府千金崔鶯鶯（葉璇 飾）的丫鬟紅娘（胡杏兒 飾）在元宵燈會上分別撿到半邊鴛鴦扣，可惜有情人一直不知。而張君瑞在燈會上展示的過人文才傾倒了崔鶯鶯，紅娘亦對他頗有好感。隨后一次偶然機(jī)會，君瑞碰上賊人意圖擄走崔鶯鶯，舍命相救終于保存了鶯鶯的名節(jié)，崔相國應(yīng)承了講鶯鶯許配給君瑞。豈料相國夫人看不起君瑞的出身，堅(jiān)持要君瑞考取功名后方可迎娶鶯鶯，于是，君瑞住進(jìn)了西廂，努力讀書等待考期來臨。
